Unlock Your Passion

When we are trying to figure out who we are and what we want to do with our lives, we are often told to follow our passion. First of all, do you know what your passion is? Some people do know this from a very young age and the pursue it with every inch of their being. A good example of this are the contestants of American Idol. Every one of those hopeful people have had a dream and took a chance to be discovered and make that dream come true. When people make music, sing, or entertain, it’s because they feel it burning inside of them. They are compelled to do it.  Of course you have to have the talent and/or skills to make these dreams happen as well. I realized that when I was young although I had the talent for dance, I did not have the voice for singing as much as I would have liked to have had. So because of that, I will have to settle for being a regular civilian who doesn’t sing or dance .

What I have been doing for several years now is to try and figure out what my passion is. It has been an elusive thing for me to discover as I believe it can be for many people. However, it finally came to me a few days ago. My passion is being an entrepreneur. I have this undying drive to be completely independent, make my own rules, and make my own money. A result for having this drive, I have come to be proficiently skilled in many different areas from web design to internet and SEO marketing, blogger and youtube partner, tarot card reader to phone sex operator.

Yes, you read that right. For the last ten years I have been a phone sex operator, talking to strange men about their sexual fantasies. For all of the things that I have a talent for, this particular line of work is the one that gets me asked the most questions. People are absolutely enthralled when I tell them that I do this line of work. Their varied responses amuse me. Sure, I’ve had people who have judged me for doing it, but anybody who really knows me knows that I really don’t give a shit what people judge me for. It is what has paid my bills, bought my car, and kept a roof over my head for a decade.  Also, being in the adult and phone sex industries is what pushed me into learning many of my other skills. Maybe one day when I’m feeling a little more open I will share some of my experience as a PSO, but for now that’s about all I want to discuss about this topic.

Where am I going with all of this? Well I think what I’m trying to say is that sometimes you don’t know what your passion is and along the way of trying to find it you find out that there are things that you are pretty damn good at. I can honestly say that I’m a damn good PSO and will continue doing so until I feel otherwise. But also through my whole life experience from about the time I was twelve years old I have acquired and learned life skills from every one of my jobs and personal experiences. If I remember correctly, I read something in “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” about having different types of job experience to gain all kinds of job skills for later on in life. I didn’t set out to do that, it just happened. Think about all of the things you have learned to do in life and see if you can’t figure out if one of them would make you happy to make a living doing and then go out and get to doing it. That’s what I’m doing every day and I know that as long as I’m making money for myself, it makes me happy.
